A BILL to amend and reenact section thirteen, article twenty,
chapter nineteen of the code of West Virginia, one thousand
nine hundred thirty-one, as amended, relating to dogs
running at large; and authorizing humane officers and dog
wardens to enter upon any premises for the purpose of
apprehending a dog running at large.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That section thirteen, article twenty, chapter nineteen of
the code of West Virginia, one thousand nine hundred thirty-one,
as amended, be amended and reenacted to read as follows:
ARTICLE 20. DOGS AND CATS.
§19-20-13. Dog running at large; liability of owner.
Any owner or keeper of any dog who permits the such dog to run at large shall be liable for any damages inflicted upon the
person or property of another by the such dog while so running at
large and any properly appointed humane officer or dog warden may
enter upon any premises for the purpose of apprehending any dog
running at large.
NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to authorize humane
officers and dog wardens to enter upon any premises for the
purpose of apprehending a dog running at large.
